We'll be at the capitol to educate and thank our lawmakers
Cherriots, along with several other public transportation providers, will be participating in Transit Day at the Capitol on April 9. This is a unique opportunity for public transportation providers to inform, engage, and thank Oregon’s leadership, who have been champions of transit.
During the 2017 session, legislators passed HB2017, establishing a Statewide Transit Improvement Fund to improve transportation services to better meet the needs of communities throughout the state. The bill, which passed with strong bipartisan support, will raise 5.3 billion dollars during the next 10 years for infrastructure, more frequent service and new routes in urban areas, new or expanded service in rural areas, and improved intercity connections.
The Oregon Transit Association, Oregon Transportation Forum, and the Oregon Department of Transportation worked tirelessly in making sure that transit was included in this historic legislation.
Public transportation providers, including TriMet, Rogue Valley Transportation District, Cascades East Transit, and South Metro Area Regional Transit, will be in the Capitol’s Galleria from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Transit Day.
